Lincoln Care Home Placed in Special Measures Over Safety Concerns

Lincoln Care Home Placed in Special Measures Over Safety Concerns

Woodview Care Centre, a care home situated in Lincoln, has been placed under special measures following a series of inspections by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). During these inspections, the CQC identified numerous infringements of legal regulations. The care home, which offers support for residents with dementia, physical disabilities, and mental health conditions, was found wanting in safety and leadership aspects.

Inspections undertaken by the CQC in April and May were spurred by worries over the safety and care of the residents at Woodview. The assessments led to the discovery of eight contraventions relating to person-centred caregiving, consent, safeguarding, safe care and treatment, the respect and dignity of residents, and appropriate staffing procedures. Other areas, including care, effectiveness, and responsiveness, were flagged as needing enhancement.

Greg Rielly, the CQC’s Deputy Director of Operations in the midlands outlined several overlooked opportunities for enriching resident care and guaranteeing their safety. He stated that there was a failure to always uphold safeguarding policies by not raising issues as required. The CQC has outlined plans for keeping a close watch on the care home while enhancements are being made and has initiated regulatory action. Woodview Care Ltd has the right to appeal this action.
