Anglian Water, the firm overseeing water provision across significant parts of Lincolnshire, has not discounted the potential for a hosepipe ban this summer, in spite of recent rain. The firm has been diligently assessing water levels in the region, acknowledging that river and reservoir levels have reacted positively to recent rainfall but warning that the weather forecast remains undetermined. As Lincolnshire falls within the driest region of the UK, Anglian Water has focused efforts on addressing leakage to prevent unnecessary water wastage, this year alone allocating £10 million towards the reduction of leakage and the replacement of pipes. Ian Rule, the director of water services, spotlighted the precarious equilibrium between environmental preservation and supporting the agricultural sector, both are fundamental to the county’s economy. The public are encouraged to use water sparingly as the firm continues to scrutinise the circumstances, especially considering the difficulties created by the extraordinarily arid conditions over the past few months.
