Lincolnshire’s Tourism Industry Reaches New Heights Amid Challenges

Lincolnshire’s tourism industry has marked a significant achievement, with the visitor’s economy topping £3bn for the first time in 2024, as reported by Lincolnshire County Council. Despite experiencing difficulties such as varying visitor numbers and increasing costs, tourism and hospitality across Greater Lincolnshire recorded an economic impact of £3.02bn, thereby supporting 28,700 employment opportunities.

Major events including concerts at Lincoln Castle, hosting artists of the calibre of Jess Glynne, have played a crucial role in attracting visitors to the county. Hayley Toyne, growth manager at the council, emphasised the influential role of events, accommodation and dining options in propelling tourism growth.

The filming of popular television shows and films, such as Netflix’s Frankenstein, filmed at Burghley House near Stamford, has piqued interest and attracted fans. Councillor Liam Kelly praised the industry’s dedication and resilience, highlighting Lincolnshire’s allure as a holiday destination, despite challenges encompassing inclement weather and escalating costs.
