Skegness Teaching Assistant Jailed for Sexual Offences Against Teenage Girl

Jonathan Bath, from Skegness, was sentenced to five years and three months in prison.

A former teaching assistant from Skegness has received a jail sentence of five years and three months for committing sexual offences against a teenage girl. Jonathan Bath, 42 years old and living in Parliament Close, confessed to two charges of engaging in penetrative sexual activity and two charges of non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15. Bath also admitted to inciting a girl of the same age bracket to participate in sexual activity. His sentencing occurred at Lincoln Crown Court.

These charges came to light when a woman came forward last year to the Lincolnshire Police, recalling the incidents that took place while she was a pupil between the years 2005 and 2007. Detective Constable Lisa Willard praised her for demonstrating “immense bravery” in speaking out. Willard emphasised that “The individual who committed these abuses held a trusted role as a teaching assistant. He was responsible for safeguarding and nurturing the children under his care. Regrettably, he exploited that authority in the most dreadful manner.”

Additionally, Bath has been given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and has been placed indefinitely on the sex offenders register. He is banned from working with both children and vulnerable adults.
